Kaoru's Legacy It happened autumn of 2017, a mid-day stroll, happy humans, guiding a pack of pups on forest exploration. Leader of the pack that day was Kaoru, strong, fluffy, smart, always ready for adventure. A poacher spotted what he thought was a wolf, but in-fact a dog, a shot rang out, a bulls-eye hit. Kaoru was dead.
Kaoru was amazing, a true gold medal captain known for her honesty and hard work. She was leader of the pack at our dog centre in Squamish, British Columbia, a small city filled with all that's best in Canada. She was also wonderful at doing what therapy dogs do best, sharing their excellence with humans. As our only therapy dog, it was a major loss not only for us, but also for our community, a valuable member lost.
Her story went worldwide, donations and thousands of messages of support came in. Thank-you, your support was deeply felt. We met real life superheros, those that protect things that need protecting, one in particular was Sadie Parr, founder of Wolf Protection Inc, an organisation dedicated to protecting wolves, they do superhero stuff. If you don't know of them, we recommend you support their efforts.

Sometimes one can find the positive in adversity. Two weeks after her death, the world's best breeder of Tamaskan dogs (Sylvaen Tamaskans
) called from Croatia, told us she had maybe found a silver lining, the magical stuff you read about in stories. She said her current litter was bred for therapy and service work and that an ultrasound had just discovered that their 9 pups were actually now 11 and that two would be available for us. Yep, that brought tears of amazingness, we said yes and so came Keiko and Senshin. ❤

Senshin & Keiko
Today we now have three amazing Tamaskans going out into communities, working with children, adults and any who need their support and amazingness. To add on more good news, 2020 is going to be a very exciting year for us, Keiko will have her first litter named, Therapia! :)
Therapia will be our first litter bred and trained for therapy and service work, pups that will one day create impact in peoples lives that will never be forgotten. They are like doggy jedi, they have the force with them and know how to kick butt.
Asking for support can be difficult sometimes, but this goes beyond us, this is a mission that in a small way will help make the world a better place. If you have time, funds, know people or organisations that can help us in this mission, let us know!
It takes a community to raise champions.
Rest in peace Kaoru, your legacy lives on ❤
